Growing & care
Sale size 5-gallon nursery container. Current height and age vary; pot size does not determine mature size.
Tree type Deciduous peach (Prunus persica). The varieties below are fruiting selections.
Sun & soil Full sun: at least 6 hours daily, preferably more. Choose fertile, well-drained soil; avoid standing water.
Planting Remove the pot and correct circling roots. Dig a wide hole; keep the root flare at soil level and the graft above the soil. Backfill, water thoroughly, and mulch away from the trunk.
Mature size Typically about 15–25 ft tall and wide for a full-size peach. Rootstock, cultivar, and pruning affect size; your supplier’s peach rootstocks are not specified.
Ground or pot? Ground planting preferred for these standard fruiting varieties. A permanent container requires a suitable compact/rootstock selection, a large draining pot, and ongoing pruning and root care.
Watering Check the root ball daily while establishing. Water slowly and thoroughly when it starts to dry; avoid saturated soil. Adjust for heat, rainfall, and drainage, and maintain consistent moisture as fruit develops.
Pollination These fruiting varieties are self-fruitful: a second peach tree is not required. Flowers still need successful pollination, usually helped by bees.
First fruit Young grafted peaches commonly begin bearing within roughly 2–4 years after planting. Tree age, health, frost, and establishment affect timing; a first-season crop is not guaranteed.
Pruning & thinning Prune annually for an open canopy. Thin developing fruit to about 6–8 in. apart for better size and quality. Spring frost and pests or diseases can reduce harvests.

Chill hours are approximate winter-cold requirements, not frost-hardiness ratings. Ranges reflect differences among published estimates. Harvest order is relative within the peach season, not a guaranteed month or date. Fruit size and flavor depend on ripeness, thinning, weather, and growing conditions. Late Sun Haven and Red Haven may be described as semi-freestone or freestone depending on ripeness and source.
